‘Drunk’ man dies after falling off Marcelo Fernan Bridge viaduct

A MAN died after he fell off the viaduct of the Marcelo Fernan Bridge on the side of Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu past 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020.

Police identified the fatality as Sebastian Tulod, a resident of Barangay Maguikay, Mandaue City.

He was driving under the influence of alcohol and his helmet was not of a full-face type, said P/SMSgt. Luisito Ernie.

Tulod’s friend, who was his passenger, was unharmed.

Investigation showed Tulod had been driving his motorcycle from his residence in Maguikay before the incident happened.

While driving along the curb in the viaduct, Tulod lost control of his motorcycle, which then hit the wall gutter.

After the motorcycle crashed, Tulod and his friend were thrown off. But it was only Tulod who fell below the bridge, about 20 to 30 feet from the viaduct, according to Ernie.

The road was slippery as it was raining at the time.

Tulod was reportedly on his way to his workplace, a sand and gravel store, to get a personal item.

A medical emergency team applied first aid on Tulod and rushed him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. (GCM / KAL)
