THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 7 recently released a total of 99,256 family food packs to 71 local government units in Central Visayas.
The agency spent P39.1 million for the relief assistance amid the crisis brought about by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic. The recipients of the food packs were 3,400 persons stranded in different provinces and regions, including students and displaced workers. The assistance was part of the relief augmentation effort of the National Government in response to the Covid-19 crisis.
Each of the recipients received food packs containing six kilos of rice, four canned sardines, four canned meat and six sachets of instant coffee. The relief assistance was good for two days for a family of five.
