THE Department of Social Welfare and Development Central Visayas (DSWD 7) has distributed a total of P49,692,000 in cash assistance to 8,282 waitlisted Social Amelioration Program (SAP) household beneficiaries as of July 15, 2020.
Waitlisted beneficiaries are those eligible low-income families who were not included and provided with emergency subsidy aid in the first tranche of the SAP.
Leah Quintana, DSWD 7 information officer, in a virtual presser on July 16, Thursday afternoon, said these waitlisted beneficiaries who have claimed their P6,000 in cash assistance are from 14 local government units (LGUs) including Oslob, Liloan, Boljoon, Argao, Medellin, Ginatilan, Moalboal, Ronda and 37 barangays in Cebu City, among others.
She said the payout for the waitlisted family beneficiaries in Talisay City is scheduled from July 15 to July 18, Sibonga and Carcar City from July 16 to 17, and Sta. Fe from July 16 to 18.
Earlier, the DSWD 7 said about 585,376 non-4Ps, low-income households in Cebu province and highly urbanized cities are initially qualified for the second tranche or equivalent to about P3.5 billion in funds.
In a separate development, Quintana said the agency has also provided a total of P62.2 million worth of relief assistance for Covid-19 response to 81 LGUs in the region.
This is equivalent to 156,522 family food packs.
A total of 11,632 individuals also received financial assistance through the Assistance for Individuals in Crisis Situation program, amounting to P18.7 million.
As for the payout for the Social Pension, she said 266,548 have claimed their social pension, equivalent to a total of P813,060,000.
The Social Pension is a program under Republic Act 9994 or the “Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010” which provides a monthly stipend of P500 to indigent senior citizens, distributed on a semestral basis at P3,000 per semester or every six months. (WBS)
