ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA6) - The Philippine Army (PA)'s 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) based at sprawling Macario Peralta covering Jamindan and Tapaz towns this provice is being eyed as an ecotourism site. At least five waterfalls have been discovered in the cantonment area, and there are more waiting to be discovered within the reservation. The camp is the country's third largest military camp spanning over 33,310 hectares. The camp also offers a two-hour hike in a nature trek treating hikers to a glimpse of a 100-meter waterfall and three basin falls where visitors can take a dip. ILOILO CITY, Iloilo (PNA) - Animal Kingdom Foundation, Inc. (AKFI) will train veterinarians and dog handlers here on humane handling and administering euthanasia to stray dogs that are a threat to people. Lectures on July 19 will include Basic Animal Welfare Concepts, pound/shelter management, humane handling and euthanasia to veterinarians and dog handlers on July 19. There will also be a hands-on demonstration for participants at the Iloilo City Veterinary Office Dog Pound. These activities will be under the provincial government's Accelerated Rabies Termination (ART) program. Iloilo has a dog population of 263,505, 95 percent of which are considered stray dogs.


CEBU CITY, Cebu (PNA) - The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Cebu marked the 24th Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) anniversary and the third year of CARP extension with reforms (CARPER) with the recent distribution of certificates of land ownership award (CLOAs) to 68 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in Balamban town, western Cebu. The 71.8 hectares in landholdings were previously owned by Irenea Mendoza, Marcelino Bendebel, Norma Tan, Francisco Alonso and Gregorio Trocio in Brgys. Biasong, Vito, and Luca in Balamban placed under the CARP. Eleven ARBs in Asturias town also received CLOAs covering 25 has. land owned by Ananias Gilay in Bogo, Asturias and a foreclosed Development Bank of the Philippines landholdings in Ubogon, Asturias.
