Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino III has been included in the Tenth Edition of the "100 Most Influential People in the World" list for 2013 by Time Magazine, citing the President's reforms and good governance. He was credited with revitalizing the Philippine economy and pushing for vital legislation.
The list honors people in the world who are "being innovative" and are "making a difference." He was in the category of "Leaders" together with United States of America President Barrack H. Obama, Pope Francis, China President Xi Jinping, South Korea President Park Geun-hye, Mexico President Enrique Peña Nieto, North Korea Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un, and others. The other categories in the list, to be published in the magazine's April 29, 2013 issue, are Titans, Pioneers, Icons, and Artists.
President Aquino said he is sharing the honor with the Filipino people, acknowledging that his accomplishments would not have been possible without the support of the people. The Philippines was awarded its first-ever investment-grade status by Fitch Ratings on March 27, 2013, the Philippine economy grew by 6.6 percent in 2012, the stock market reached record highs, and more investors and tourists are coming to the Philippines.
President Aquino was on the cover of the magazine's Asia Edition in 2010 when he was running for president. His mother, former President Corazon C. Aquino, was featured several times on Time Magazine, which named her "Woman of the Year" for 1986 for her role in the EDSA People Power Revolution. His father was the martyred Senator Benigno S. Aquino Jr. Despite him being the son of two democracy icons, Time Magazine praised President Aquino "for quickly making his own name since he assumed office on June 30, 2010."
The Manila Bulletin, led by its Chairman of the Board of Directors Dr. Emilio T. Yap, President and Publisher Atty. Hermogenes P. Pobre, Executive Vice President Dr. Emilio C.
