Eight injured in Lahore factory fire

Lahore (Dawn/ANN) - Eight people were badly burnt during a fire at a plastic factory in Lahore's Quaid-i-Azam industrial estate area on Saturday, according to reports given to Dawn.

The injured included two factory owners and both were said to be in critical condition.

Aside from injuring people, the first also reportedly destroyed goods worth millions of rupees.

Police said the fire enveloped the factory during the early hours of Saturday. Rescue teams had reached the site of the incident and had begun operations to put it out. The injured were moved to a hospital for treatment.

According to preliminary investigations, the fire erupted as a result of gas leakage which filled a room. However, further investigations would be required before giving a definitive verdice, police sources told Dawn.
