Election preparations

Tandag City - The Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMincom) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) strengthened its forces in all identified rebel-affected areas in Mindanao as the mid-term May 13 national and local election approaches.

The EastMincom, along with his infantry divisions, brigades and other operational control (Opcon) units deployed in Northeastern, Northern and Southern Mindanao region and part of Central Mindanao are maximizing patrols in order to secure villagers from harassment during the campaign period and election day.

The EastMincom also planning to augment the number of combat troops in Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Sur, Compostela Valley, Bukidnon and Misamis Oriental.

Meanwhile, the combat maneuvering brigades and battalion of the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division (4th ID) have already maximized the deployment of their troops in identified areas of concern by the Commission on Election (Comelec). (Mike U. Crismundo)
