Presidential bet Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and his running mate, Davao Mayor Sara Duterte, held a rally in Taguig City on Sunday (April 24) at which Marcos reemphasized his team's goal of national unity.

As reported by ABS-CBN, Marcos said at the sortie in Arca South, "Maraming salamat sa napakainit na salubong na binigay ninyo sa amin…

(Thank you so much for the very warm welcome you gave us… I have to elaborate often when I speak and discuss our goal of unity. But here in Taguig there is no need to explain; we're already united.)

Marcos hailed the seemingly disparate roots of himself and his running mate as evidence that his alliance, UniTeam, could unite the country. His stronghold is in the north in Ilocos Norte, while Duterte's bailiwick is in the south, in Mindanao, where her father President Rodrigo Duterte was Davao Mayor before her.

(You know, our alliance with Inday Sara [Duterte] has a very beautiful meaning because it is a symbol of the unity we are proclaiming because when we think about it - someone like me who came from the North and someone like Inday Sara from Davao, from Mindanao, from both sides of the Philippines, can come together, maybe we can unite the Filipino people.)

In her speech, Duterte said the UniTeam tandem's would continue her father's administration's policies, including the "Build, Build, Build" infrastructure drive and anti-criminality campaign.

(President [Rodrigo] Duterte wants you all to know that at the end of his term he thanks all of you here in Taguig from his heart… Our family has a promise to you for the nation and I have a promise to all of you that I will do everything in my work so that we can have a peaceful life here in our country.)

Marcos was joined at the rally by his family members: his wife Atty. Louise "Liza" Araneta Marcos, and their sons, Simon and Vinny. Their eldest son, Sandro, was busy with his congressional campaign in Ilocos Norte.

UniTeam later also held a rally in the evening in Bustillos, Sampaloc.
