With mere days left before national elections on May 9, poll workers and security services in the Philippines are stepping up efforts to prepare for the vote.

Staff have been busy installing ballot boxes and vote counting machines at polling stations.
Meanwhile, on Thursday (May 5) at the National Printing Office in Quezon City, workers loaded ballots onto a truck to be transported to regional hubs ahead of election day.
Security has been increased in preparation for the polls, with more police noticeable on the streets of Manila.
On Wednesday, members of the military and police services attended a ceremonial send-off at Camp Crame in Quezon City, the national headquarters of the Philippine National Police, as they were deployed for security duty ahead of elections.
