Manong Johnny will get rest too.

Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile says he will go on vacation when the Senate goes to a month-long recess on March 23.

Enrile said he would not travel out of the country unlike some of the senators and would only visit their province in Cagayan.

“Mahilig ako magbiyahe sa aking probinsiya. Dun lang ako nagpupunta. Natutulog sa ilalim ng kahoy. Eating seashells and fresh dilis. Gusto ko yung naglalakad sa bundok eh. I go to the jungle, to the mangroves,” he told reporters Wednesday.

“I go swimming, diving. Ako nagda-dive nang walang diving equipment. Yun ang ginagawa ko noong bata ako. Pumapana ako ng isda noong araw. Pati octopus," he said.

“Nagwa-water-ski pa ako. Hindi ‘yung double ski, pang amature yun. Kung professional ka na, single ski at saka pwede ka mag-ski nang walang ski. Paa mo lang depende sa speed ng speedboat,” he added.

When asked if he still performs those activities with his age, the 88-year-old senator said, “Oo. Bakit? Madali lang yun eh!”

Enrile also said that he would spend the Holy Week in Manila, praying.

The senate president noted that upon their return after the recess on May 7, the Senate will continue with the impeachment trial and legislative sessions to discuss priority bills including the Anti-Trust Law, Land Use Law, Reproductive Health Bill, among others.
