NO CEBU City resident succumbed to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the first six days of October, the Cebu City Emergency Operations Center (EOC) reported.
City Councilor Joel Garganera, EOC deputy chief implementer, said the mortality doubling time of the city is now at 20.64 days, while the rest of the country’s mortality doubling time is 16.79 days.
Cebu City recorded its highest deaths due to Covid-19 in June with 370 mortalities.
In July, there were 175 deaths; May, 80; August, 22; September, 18; and April, five; and March, four.
Based on the EOC data, Cebu City has 674 deaths to date.
The Department of Health (DOH) 7 data on Oct. 6 states that the city has 10,044 total cases of Covid-19; but 9,013 of the total cases have recovered, leaving only 356 active cases.
The current positivity rate of Cebu City is 14.26 percent out of the 70,812 individuals tested since March.
Garganera said 38 barangays in the city no longer have transmission of Covid-19.
He said three more barangays will also complete the 14 days with no new cases two days from now.
Should there be no new case logged by those barangays, the three barangays will be added to the list with zero transmission.
