ZIP Management and Sanman Promotions added another former ALA Boy to their stacked roster of talented pugs after inking a deal with unbeaten super flyweight prospect KJ Cataraja.
“I’ll be fighting Sanman events and if there’s an event in Japan, I’ll also be fighting there,” the 25-year-old Cataraja told SunStar Cebu.
Cataraja joins his ALA Gym stablemates Melvin Jerusalem, Jeo Santisima and Esneth Domingo in the Zip Management and Sanman Promotions roster.
“This is an exciting move for Sanman and ZIP. We are happy to welcome Cataraja into our stable. He has an impressive record and brags a very promising boxing career,” said Sanman Promotions CEO JC Manangquil.
Unlike Jerusalem, Santisima and Domingo, who’ll be based in Cebu, Cataraja will be based in Japan and will train alongside three-division world champion Kosei Tanaka under the guidance of Hitoshi Tanaka.
“I’m going to be based in Japan. My trainer will be the father of Kosei. They also have a plan for me to train in the US along with Kosei and his father,” said Cataraja, who was one of Kosei’s sparring partners in 2019.
Cataraja is currently rated No. 11 with World Boxing Organization (WBO). With his new handlers, Cataraja hopes to get the big fights. His main target is WBO super flyweight king Kazuto Ioka.
Cataraja last saw action on Sept. 23, 2019. He stopped veteran Crison Omayao in three rounds.
Cataraja is 11-0 with nine knockouts. (EKA)
