A 38-year-old ex-convict was shot dead by his fellow ex-convict second degree cousin for allegedly spreading rumors about the latter's illicit affairs in Barangay Bulasa,

Argao town in southern Cebu on Sunday at 6 p.m., July 31, 2022.

Corporal Ariel Conde, investigator of Argao Police Station, identified the suspect as Macario Flores Cambarijan, 36, and the victim as Ulysses Gervise.

According to their relatives, Gervise got mad at Cambarijan for allegedly spreading rumors that he has a relationship with a married woman.

"Nikalit ug duol ni ang suspek ug giingnan ang biktima nga ayaw pataka ug panabi nga karelasyon na nako nga bayhana dayon na nikablit sa iyang pusil kaduha sa iyang

ulo pero wala niboto," Conde said.

(The suspect suddenly approached the victim and told him not to invent stories that he was having an affair with a woman, and then fired twice at the victim but

his gun malfunctioned).

The suspect was successful in his third attempt, hitting the victim in the left eye.

The suspect embraced his cousin and asked for his forgiveness before fleeing.

The victim was brought to Isidro Kintanar Memorial Hospital, where he later expired.

Cecilio, father of the victim, said they are determined to file a case against the suspect, who is still at large. (GDC, TPT)
