Former Olympian Charly Suarez springs back to action this weekend, Sept. 4, 2021, in an eight-round lightweight contest against Lorence Rosas at the Urdaneta Cultural Sports Complex in Urdaneta City.

The 33-year-old Suarez has been very busy in 2021 despite the Covid-19 situation. He has already fought three times in 2021, beating Dave Barlas and Pablito Canada by technical knockout, and Jon Jon Estrada by unanimous decision.

Rosas, in the meantime, is on a long layoff and has not fought since an eighth round stoppage in the hands of veteran Mark Anthony Geraldo. He’s also on a slump, losing his last four fights.

Suarez was supposed to fight Rosas back in April, but the fight was scrapped.

Suarez, who represented the Philippines in the 2016 Olympics, is 7-0 with five knockouts, while Rosas is 9-5-2 with three knockouts.

In the undercard VSP Boxing’s “Quest for Glory,” Arnel Baconaje (13-4, 11 KOs) faces Danny Tampipi (9-12-2, 5 KOs), Lorenz Ladrada (10-1-1, 3 KOs) locks horns with Gary Tamayo (4-1, 3 KOs), Roy Sumugat (11-11-1, 5 KOs) is up against Glenn Bismanos (6-1-4, 4 KOs), and Jules Victoriano (9-3, 6 KOs) slugs it out with John Lawrence Ordonio (6-2-1, 3 KOs). Estrada (12-8-1, 11 KOs) is fighting Canada (7-19-4, 1 KO), Remon Basas (5-5, 4 KOs) squares off with Marklin Itim (2-5), Ali Canega (2-0-1, 2 KOs) faces off with Richard Morales (3-3-1, 2 KOs), Jover Amistoso (2-0) takes on Kenneth Llover (2-0, 2 KOs) and Jonniel Laurente (1-0, 1 KO) faces newcomer Fernando Tagpuno Jr. (EKA)
