Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks newcomer Rhiannon Clements has revealed more about the arrival of Cormac Ranger's daughter Summer, tipping her to cause "difficult situations" with the established characters.

Summer will arrive in the village next month to seek out her father, who was recently beaten up and left in a coma after facing a showdown with Warren Fox.

The introduction of Summer will threaten the secret that Warren, Felix Westwood and Brody Hudson have been keeping over the past few weeks.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy about what's to come, Rhiannon explained: "Summer's a great character and I'm excited to explore her more. She's fun, sarcastic and I love the zest she brings, but also love that she's a really complex, multi-faceted character which is going to be brilliant to play.

"Fans can expect lots of surprises and fun with Summer, but not everything is always as it seems. She's all sweetness and light but she also has a nasty bite. It definitely wont be quiet or easy when Summer's around, but there'll be lots of excitement, twists and entertainment along the way."

Asked whether Summer will pose a threat to anyone in the village, Rhiannon replied: "She has a secret that will ruffle the feathers of some of the characters, and as time goes on, will lead to some quite difficult situations.

"Once Summer sets her mind on something, be it an idea, a plan or a person, she will do everything she can to make things go her way, which will cause some problems for certain characters, dynamics and some big stories. She isn't always what she seems."

Hollyoaks bosses have long-term plans for Summer as she'll be opening up a baking business in the Grand Bazaar and will become a frenemy for Sienna Blake.

Discussing how she felt when she landed the role, Rhiannon added: "I was absolutely buzzing – shocked but so, so happy! I was already really grateful to have gotten an audition in person, and so to actually get the role and the opportunity to join the Hollyoaks family was unreal.

"I was at my mum's, sat in the garden having a brew, when my agent rang me to say that I'd got the role. I was convinced he was calling to say 'sorry it's gone another way' and I was gearing myself up, but when he said I'd got the role, I was over the moon.

"I was a mix of nerves and excitement on my first visit to set. I was shown around the building and talked through all the new protocols, then went for meetings with hair and make-up, producers and the scriptwriters.

"It was quite surreal to see the sets and the behind the scenes mechanisms that make Hollyoaks, from the other side of the camera. I had lots of chats about Summer's journey, personality and storylines and they allowed me so much input into who Summer is. I came away eager to start filming and creating her.

"The first cast member I met was Jamie Lomas, who plays Warren, at my audition. I walked into the waiting area just before going in to meet the casting team and I heard his voice from the audition room, and recognised it right away!

"He was really lovely and he put me completely at ease in my read, which allowed me so much freedom in what could have been a really nerve-racking setting.

"Everyone has taken me under their wing. Crew and cast and everyone I've met so far are super welcoming and were there to talk to if I had any questions or worries on set, or on the lead-up to my first scenes.

"I felt really involved in the process of introducing Summer to Hollyoaks and prepared to start filming and it's been great! It's been so much fun so far so I'm mad excited to see what the next year holds."

Hollyoaks currently airs new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4. Classic episodes, titled Hollyoaks Favourites, air on Fridays at 7pm on E4.
