Experiencing ‘Santorini’ in Marinduque’s Bellarocca resort

By Kaye Mangabat

BUENAVISTA, MARINDUQUE – From a picturesque backdrop to its dreamy landscape,  Bellarocca Island Resort offers visitors a piece of the world famous Santorini in Greece.

The resort is located on Isla Elefante which is part of Buenavista town. According to locals, the island was named as such for it looks like an elephant swimming in the sea.

Bellarocca, which literally means “beautiful rock,” has taverns and white villas that seem to float when seen from afar.

A 45-minute land travel from the airport is an adventure already. You can enjoy the scenery of the quaint countryside while on the trip. A small port is your final stop and a short, five-minute boat ride will take you the Bellarocca.

Upon reaching the dock, you will have to ride golf carts and traverse cobblestone roads and flower gardens.

Isla Elefante is said to have a big potential as a top tourist destination in the Philippines with surrounding mountains and the blue sea. Aside from the resort, Marinduque has many other attractions that tourists will also find worth visiting.
