THE Cebu Sherilin Trading Corporation-Bears displayed remarkable resilience as they came from behind to take down the Wolves, 103-101, in the Elite Basketball Cebu Season 18 last Saturday at the Casals Gym.

Undermanned with numerous key players absent from the game, the Bears made the most of their manpower to stay within striking distance of the Wolves. Still, the Wolves had the upper hand, 101-100, and a chance to put the game out of reach as pro player Joseph Nalos was sent to the line for two free-throws.

However, the normally-steady guard missed the freebies, and the Bears’ wingman Albert Ardiente raced downcourt and canned a tough layup to give his team the lead, 102-101, with just seconds to go.

The Wolves then bungled the inbound pass and James Ferraren split his charities for the final tally.

Former University of San Carlos forward Jam Ferraren had himself quite the ballgame as he filled the stat sheet with 28 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and a block.

At 4-1, the Bears now share the lead in the standings with three other squads. On the other hand, the Wolves dropped to 1-4.

In the nightcap of the Saturday twinbill, the Aneda Builders-Falcons handed the Gothong Shipping Lines-Rhinos their first loss of the tournament, 90-84.

Prolific forward Allan Ger Sala stamped his class in the game as he tallied 26 points and 13 rebounds to go with three assists as the Falcons led from start to finish.

The Falcons now have a 3-2 card while the Rhinos dropped to 4-1. (JNP)
