Former Makati Mayor Jun Jun Binay
MANILA, Philippines – Former Makati Mayor Jun Jun Binay on Friday (October 12) said the Binay family is yet to settle things amongst themselves over the expected fight for the mayoralty position between him and their youngest sibling Abigail Binay.
“I am also waiting for my father. Babalik na rin siya so maguusap-usap ang pamilya and iyon ang sabi ni Ate Nancy na maguusap-usap kami as a family. If I would put into weight ang nagka-clamor, gusto kong paglingkuran, kailangan kong kausapin ang father ko,” said Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay Jr.
Abigail is the incumbent mayor of Makati, a position previously held by Jun Jun prior to his dismissal from office in 2016.
When asked if the former mayor can be disqualified should he decide to run again, former Comelec Chair Sixto Brillantes believes “there is no legal impediment” if Jun Jun Binay will file for reelection.
“May isang pending, iyong isa naka-reverse na. Tapos lusot na. Iyong pangalawa pending, hindi pa final kaso ang rule naman kahit quesiton sa no. 22 final and executory na ba? Hindi pa final, walang disqualification,” Brillantes explained.
