Fans of 2NE1, Girls Generation Nominated In O Music Awards

MANILA, Philippines - Fans of Korean pop groups 2NE1 and Girls Generation have been nominated in the O Music Awards, a show by Viacom "dedicated to honoring achievements in the digital music realm [and] web culture that runs throughout."

The O Music Awards, which will be held on June 27 to 28, has recently unveiled this year's nominees. In the Fan Army FTW category, the fan groups of 2NE1 called Blackjacks, and Girls Generations called Sones, got nominations along with fans of artists like Adam Lambert, One Direction, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Mindless Behavior, The Wanted, Taylor Swift and Mumford & Sons; as well as fans of Tokio Hotel that won in 2010 and 2011.

In November last year, 2NE1 was bestowed the "Best Band in the World" award by MTV Iggy, a victory largely driven by their massive and supportive fan base.

"Fans of the girl group kept up consistent, frenzied social media around Best New Bands from beginning to end. Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Cyworld, comments on our site, and basically every social media platform available was clogged with impassioned 2ne1 lobbying. Frankly, we were worried about the fans' lack of sleep," noted MTV Iggy when the votes were tallied.

It's the same thing for Girls Generation. Their fans have been supporting the group all these years including buying their albums and showing their support to the girls' concerts and other events.

Fans can vote on the different categories using Facebook or Twitter. Voting started on May 23 and will run until June 28.
