Father recovers son’s head, right leg after crocodile attack in Balabac, Palawan

PALAWAN, Philippines – MIMAROPA Police reported on Wednesday (August 14) that a 10-year-old boy was attacked and bitten by a crocodile in the swampy waters of Sitio Tagpanasan in Barangay Salang, Balabac, Palawan on Sunday (August 11).

The incident happened when the victim, Milhasan Suraping, along with his brother Lokan (12) and sister Marlina (15) went to a store using a small boat.

Investigation revealed that the victim was sitting at the back of the boat when he was suddenly attacked and snapped by a crocodile.

The victim’s father, Robinsio Suraping, immediately reported the incident to Balabac Municipal Police and together with his neighbors, they conducted search and rescue until 1:00 AM the following day.

Personnel of Balabac MPS, DENR, MDRMO, PCG and SBU joined the search and rescue.

It was only on Tuesday (August 13) when fisherman Ajalong Amalong, a resident of Sition Odyong in Barangay Catagupan, found the victim’s head and right leg at the mangrove in the area of Sitio Tagpanasan.

After recovering and cleaning the boy’s body parts, Robinsio immediately buried his son’s remains. – MNP
