Father, son ‘operating’ drug den in Tisa nabbed along with 7 others

OPERATIVES of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA 7) raided a house allegedly being used as a drug den in Barangay Tisa, Cebu City on Saturday night, October 1, 2022.

They arrested Benedicto Arias, 50, and his son Christian, 20, along with Lawrence Parba, 19; Bart Villona, 54; Roy Gadiano, 22; Ace Parba, 25; Richard Abucay, 35; James Daclan, 28; and Jeffrey Cabalquinto, 32.

The Ariases reportedly ran the drug den.

According to Leia Alcantara, PDEA 7 spokesperson, they seized five packets of suspected shabu weighing 16 grams with an estimated market value of P108,800, illegal drugs paraphernalia and the buy-bust money during the operation, which took place at 7:10 p.m.

Alcantara said they monitored the house for three days after receiving information from residents in the area that it was being used for illegal activities.

She said they are still trying to find out where Benedicto and Christian got their supply of illegal drugs, adding that the father and son sold an average of 30 grams of shabu every week.

The PDEA 7 will charge the nine suspects with violating several sections of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, Tisa Barangay Captain Renato Pacaña, who accompanied the PDEA 7 operatives during the raid, said the house was long noted to be a drug den.

He also said the Ariases are in the barangay’s drug watch list.
