FBA-USJ-R bests Lycans-Truck N’ Trail to rule Next Gen Youth 4 Hoops

THE Future Basketball Academy-University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars captured the title in the Next Gen Youth 4 Hoops basketball tournament after defeating the Lycans-Truck N’ Trail, 57-52, in the finals on Tuesday night at the Minglanilla Sports Complex.

Athletic forward Elmer Echavez showed that he’s a force to be reckoned with as he produced a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds to go with three blocks. He was also named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

Left-handed wingman Jay Deiparene also provided USJ-R with more firepower as he had 12 points, six assists, and two steals while up-and-coming forward Lloyd Lamosere was solid down low with 10 points and 12 boards.

The Lycans got 18 points, eight assists, three rebounds, and two steals from wily point guard Jimpaul Amistoso, while Roosevelt Jelianggao had 12 markers.

Named to the Mythical Five were Lamosere, Deiparene, Amistoso, Jelianggao, and Inside Out-University of Cebu’s Paul Galinato. (JNP)
