Few traffic violators in October 2022

THE intermittent weather condition and the lack of manpower in the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) has led to lesser apprehension of traffic violators in October 2022 compared to September.

Newly installed CCTO acting department head Raquel Arce admitted to SunStar Cebu Friday, November 4, that the citation tickets issued to traffic violators in October have reduced to more than half from the previous month.

In their record, only 12,186 tickets were issued in October compared to the 21,898 violation tickets given to erring drivers in September.

Arce did not put aside the possibility that drivers were more disciplined, especially those who have already been apprehended before.

But she noted that in October, weather conditions were not good, leading to fewer operations being conducted by the CCTO.

"Ang usa sa ni contribute katong dili maayo nga panahon, ni menos ang issuance unya ni menos sad ang atoang nagpabadlong tungod kay ni menos ang pag guwa sa mga sakyanan tungod kay naglain ang panahon," said Arce.

Arce also mentioned that last month, there were only a few traffic personnel manning the roads due to the delay in the renewal of their employment contracts.

"Usa sa ni contribute ang kadtong diha tay mga personnel nga wala ma renew unya ang reconsideration later naman (na approve), karon naming buwana," she said.

But this time, Arce said they have enough manpower for the office to properly perform its functions. (IRT)
