Filbasket MVP Justin Gutang to play in Korean Basketball League

Talented wingman Justin Gutang will be going to Korea to suit up for Changwon LG in the Korean Basketball League (KBL).

Gutang is the latest Filipino to sign with a team in the KBL after ace guards SJ Belangel and RJ Abarrientos did so in the last few weeks. The 6-foot-4 wingman was named the Most Valuable Player of the Filbasket Summer Showcase after averaging 14.5 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 4.5 assists to lead San Juan to the runner-up finish.

Before that, the College of St. Benilde product played for Nueva Ecija in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League and had averages of 9.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.0 block per game.

Gutang also did well at St. Benilde, playing 35 games and averaged 12.4 points, 6.91 rebounds, 4.26 assists, and 1.14 steals.
