Authorities are pursuing a suspect following the murder of a 23-year-old pawnshop manager and K-pop boyband BTS fan in Kalibo, Aklan on Monday (June 6) morning.

The body of Bonna Hercia Ambay was found with several stab wounds at around 9am of June 6 at RD Pawnshop located along Mabini Street in Barangay Poblacion.

According to initial investigations, Ambay sustained multiple stab wounds to various parts of her body and was already dead when police arrived at the scene.

A security guard of the pawnshop reported that he knew something was wrong when he saw the shop's roll-up door was still closed while the shop’s secondary gate was opened.

He saw Ambay’s body on the floor when he entered the shop.

Various personal items were recovered at the scene, including a bloodstained Coach handbag believed to be Ambay’s, a pair of black slippers, handcuffs, towel, coin purse, handbag and knife.

They also found a security guard uniform with the name tag, “TORREFIEL MAR.”

Security guard Mark Archie Torrefiel is currently the prime suspect in Ambay’s murder. However, the case is still under investigation.

According to Leamil Malungayon, Area Manager of RD Pawnshop, the shop’s vault was intact and no valuables were taken.

Police are yet to determine the motive behind Ambay’s murder.

Kalibo Mayor-elect Juris Bautista Sucro meanwhile offered a reward of P30,000 (US$ 567) to anyone with information on the whereabouts of the now-in-hiding security guard.

Ambay was also a proud member of korean pop group BTS‘s fandom, ARMY. The fans are now flooding social media with calls for justice for their fellow fan’s death.
