Filipino-British singer Beabadoobee is going on tour with Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift’s recent tour announcement is the gift that keeps on giving. After the superstar announced she was returning to the stage for a new tour, her first in five years, Swift revealed the fierce lineup of popular young artists who would be performing as her opening acts. One of those openers is Philippines-born Beabadoobee, the Gen Z singer-songwriter based in the UK who marked her Coachella debut earlier this year.

Beabadoobee, real name Beatrice Kristi Laus, confirmed the news on her Twitter account, alongside a link to an old video where she mentioned wanting to go on tour with Taylor Swift.

“going on tour with @taylorswift13 holy shit, a dream come true,” the 22-year-old wrote.

Taylor sent Swifties into a tailspin when she announced on Nov. 1 that she was hitting the road again for a new tour, dubbed The Eras, which would encompass all of the musical eras of her career. The news came just two weeks after she dropped her latest album, Midnights, which saw all 20 songs chart on the Billboard Hot 100.

Beabadoobee joins a solid roster of opening acts at tour stops across the United States including Paramore, Phoebe Bridgers, Girl in Red, MUNA, HAIM, Gayle, Gracie Abrams, and OWENN.

The Filipino-British singer, who launched her second album, the 2000s pop-rock-flecked Beatopia, told Coconuts Manila in a July interview that her songwriting was heavily influenced by classical OPM (Original Pilipino Music) artists. “I realized that a lot of the music I used to listen to as a child subconsciously seeps into my music without me realizing, and a lot of it is OPM — just classically amazing songwriters,” she said, adding that her love songs are influenced by OPM artists such as APO Hiking Society and the Eraserheads.
