Filipinos living and working in Singapore have been invited to meet with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. when he visits the city-state from September 6-7.

Next Tuesday (September 6), kababayans will have a chance to meet President Marcos at the University Cultural Centre Ho Bee Auditorium, in the National University Singapore.

From now till Sunday, or till all seats have been taken, those interested can register online here. Slots will be opened progressively. The gates will open at 2pm and close at 5pm, while the main event begins at 6pm.

"As we are still in the middle of the pandemic, the number of attendees at the Filipino Community (FilCom) Meeting will be limited to ensure the safety and health of everyone in attendance," said the Philippine Embassy in a statement, stressing that only fully vaccinated individuals will be allowed in the venue.

The event will also be streamed live through RTVM’s and the Embassy’s Facebook page for those unable to attend physically.

President Marcos is making a state visit to Singapore at the invitation of Singapore President Halimah Yacob, immediately after a trip to Indonesia.

Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) spokesperson Teresita Daza has confirmed in an online conference that Marcos will also travel to the United States to speak at the UN General Assembly on Sept. 20.

Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles earlier announced Marcos's planned visits to Indonesia (September 4-6) and Singapore. She added that Marcos’ visit to the United States for the United Nations (UN) General Assembly is still being “worked out.”

In response to media queries, a spokesperson for Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the visit would take place on September 6-7. "We look forward to welcoming President Marcos to Singapore."

Marcos will meet with Singapore's leaders Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and President Halimah Yacob during the two-day state visit from Tuesday.

Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel "Babe" Romualdez told reporters earlier that Marcos plans to visit Indonesia before his possible trip to New York for the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

"Ang proposed visits niya, uunahin niya yung Indonesia sana. The President is looking at his schedule kung saan siya makakapunta but definitely it will before he goes to New York," Romualdez said.
