Fires hit 2 Cebu City barangays, destroy over P4 million in properties

AROUND 39 houses were affected in fires that hit two barangays in Cebu City on Monday, June 6, 2022, causing P4.2 million in damage to properties.

Firefighters first responded to a fire that hit Sitio Lower Capaculan in Barangay Tisa around 6 a.m.

The fire destroyed around 10 houses and damaged four others.

Fire officials pegged the fire damage at around P3.5 million.

Investigators said the fire allegedly started at the house of a certain Jasmine Lodonia.

The fire was raised at first alarm at 6:34 a.m. and later, to second alarm at 6:51 a.m. The fire was eventually placed under control at 7:20 a.m.

At least 40 families were affected by the fire.

No fatalities were reported during the fire.

A resident identified as Ronerick Suarez, 23, sustained a wound in his right knee while escaping from the blaze.

Ermita fire

In the afternoon, Cebu City firefighters were again responding to another fire, this time, in Sitio Bato, Barangay Ermita.

Officials of the Cebu City Fire Office received the fire alarm at 3:42 p.m. and eventually had it under control an hour later.

Around 25 houses were destroyed in the fire.

The fire’s damage was pegged at P750,000.
