Julius Maguiwe graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) in New London, Connecticut on 20 November 2019.
Maguiwe is the first Igorot Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) officer who graduated with excellence from the USCGA.
Julius Maguiwe from Mankayan, Benguet was sponsored by the PCG and was appointed as an international officer to the USCGA,” according to a post from the PCG.
Maguiwe said he received the highest grade in Survival at Sea and Physical Fitness Test (PFT) among the Officer Indoctrination School 2019.
He is also grateful for the opportunity to represent the Philippines.
“I’m humbled and privileged to be the first Igorot to complete a Course in this Academy, Leadership Development Center. Thank you to all my seniors and leaders out there who inspired me so that I can also inspire others in my own little way,” he said in a post.—AAC
