Cavite Infrastructure Corp. (CIC), a unit of Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC), said that the first section of its PHP10-billion, 7.7-kilometer, six-lane, C-5 South Link Expressway Project is expected to be finished by March 2019.
The first section stretches 2.2 kilometers, and connects C-5 to Merville.
Luigi Bautista, president and CEO of CIC, said in a statement:
“C-5 South Link is progressing as scheduled. When completed, the road will provide motorists from Parañaque, Las Piñas and Cavite direct access to C-5,” he stated.
“We also want to inform the public that by the end of September, we will be launching girders that will cross the at-grade portion of Skyway and South Luzon Expressway. This is a critical activity of the project and we expect substantial completion after the girders are installed.”
Expect Road Congestion Ahead
Bautista also added that the C-5 South Link Expressway’s construction would cause more traffic within the area.
“We would like to seek the understanding and patience of all motorists using the Skyway and SLEx between Nichols Toll Plaza and Bicutan,” he said.
“We as well advise them to plan their trips and look for alternative routes. Partial closure of Skyway and SLEx during off-peak hours is necessary when we position and install the girders,” he added.
The C-5 South Link
The C-5 South Link, which is part of the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway (CAVITEX), will connect with the Coastal Road (R1 Expressway). It will also connect major business districts in Makati/Taguig area to Cavite/Parañaque/Las Piñas
The C-5 South Link Expressway will offer a more convenient and faster travel time for those who are driving to and from Las Piñas, Parañaque, Cavite, and for other Parañaque residents in Merville, Multinational, and Moonwalk villages.
It’s expected to cut travel time in less than half an hour from the usual one hour and thirty-minute drive for motorists coming from Las Piñas, Cavite and Parañaque to Taguig .
It will also help decongest traffic along Sales Road in Pasay and EDSA when it becomes full operational by 2021.
