Five days before deadline, Visayan Electric power restoration hits 86.79% on January 26

THE Visayan Electric Company still has to reenergize its 62,603 customers in its franchise area in Metro Cebu five days before January 31, 2022 -- the target date of its full power restoration.

This after Visayan Electric had restored electricity to 86.79 percent or 411,579 of its 474,182 customers as of 12 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2022. Reenergized areas are in the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, Talisay and Naga, and in the municipalities of San Fernando, Minglanilla, Consolacion and Liloan.

The power distributor's restoration efforts jumped a bit by 0.76 percentage point on Wednesday from 86.04 percent (407,996 customers) on Tuesday, January 25.

Visayan Electric had promised to restore power to 100 percent of its affected customers by January 31.

Visayan Electric has been repairing poles and power lines a day after the onslaught of Typhoon Odette, which devastated parts of central and southern Cebu.
