It is easy to find excuses not to pencil in regular exercise due to your busy schedule, work commitments, family time, or social life. It can also be overwhelming for some to plan exercise schedules when they are not used to regular workouts. However, we all know the importance of getting some exercise into our daily lives for the sake of both physical and mental well-being.

Rather than having to block out large chunks of designated time slots for working out, Yahoo Life SEA has come up with a list of five different ways that you can easily incorporate more exercise into your everyday life.

Our editorial team is dedicated to finding and telling you more about the products and deals we love. If you love them too and decide to purchase through the links below, we may receive a commission. Prices were correct at the time of publication.

1. Take the stairs

One of the easiest ways to move more daily and to clock some exercise in your busy life is to take the stairs instead of the lift. Taking the stairs help to increase your heart rate and can improve lower-extremity strength. How fast you can climb four flights of stairs can also be an indication of how healthy your heart is.

Taking the stairs down your apartment block when heading out to work or walking up the stairs to your office or home can easily help you move more, especially if you are doing this daily. For those that sweat easily, you might want to do this at the end of your workday to stay fresh while in the office.

2. Sit on an exercise ball

Especially for those working from home, sitting on an exercise ball instead of your usual office chair for an hour or two daily can help you get some moves in, plus help correct your posture. In between working hours, you can also take a break with these easy-to-follow exercises with your stability ball.

However, it is important that you do not swap out your office chair with a yoga ball for the entire day, as you may end up feeling fatigued after a few hours, which can affect your work performance. Instead, invest in a good chair for your home office to support your back while working and interchange it with an exercise ball.

3. Alight two bus stops earlier

Alighting earlier not only helps save your bus fare but at the same time, allows you to easily incorporate extra steps into your daily routine. Clocking at least 10,000 steps daily is proven to help improve both the person’s mood and physical state.

Do so on the way home instead of when you are heading to work to avoid being late and minimise feeling sweaty while at work. Wearing appropriate footwear while clocking your steps is also recommended to avoid injuring yourself.

4. Stretch while watching Netflix

It is easy and tempting for you to collapse on your sofa or bed after a long day at work and just start bingeing on your favourite TV shows on Netflix. Instead of doing so, squeeze in some workout time while you are catching up on the latest episodes of the show you love.

The beauty of working out in front of the tv is that you do not have to do anything too complicated. Arm with a yoga mat, you can do simple stretching, sit-ups and squats, or even arm exercises using dumbbells to help you clock in more moves daily.

5. Dance your chores away

Turning household chores into a dance party is a surefire way to inject fun into a boring routine and get some exercise in without stress. Physically, dancing helps improve cardiovascular health, increase strength and help with balance. Mentally, getting groovy also boosts cognitive performance and improves moods.

If you are a K-Pop fan, you can also easily find dance practices on Youtube to follow along, such as Butter by BTS, which had amassed over 155 million views. Turn up the volume and transform your mundane tasks into a great calorie-burner while enjoying every moment.
