Five men's luxury watches unveiled ahead of Geneva watch show

The 24th edition of the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH), the luxury watch trade show held annually in Geneva, will take place this year January 20-24. An exclusive event open only to industry professionals, SIHH showcases the most prestigious timepieces headed for the market in the coming year. For watch lovers and collectors, we present ten of the most remarkable men's watches unveiled ahead of SIHH 2014.

Grande Reverso Ultra Thin 1931 by Jaeger-LeCoultre
A new variation on the Swiss watchmaker's Grande Reverso Ultra Thin, the 1931 has an 18K rose gold case and a chocolate-colored dial with a single Arabic numeral, 12, and gold lines at each of the other hours. This remarkable timepiece owes its name to its exceptionally thin case, which measures just 7.3mm thick and lies almost perfectly flat on the wrist. The Grande Reverso Ultra Thin 1931 comes with two straps: one in matte brown alligator leather and another designed by Casa Fagliano in Cordoba leather.

Automotive Flying Tourbillon by Ralph Lauren
Ralph Lauren decided to equip its latest luxury watch with one of the most complex and prestigious complications in the world of haute horlogerie -- a flying tourbillon. Visible through an aperture at 6 o'clock, the tourbillon complements the sporty and modern design of the case and dial, inspired by the dashboard of the 1938 Bugatti Atlantic 57SC race car. The 45 mm stainless steel case has a matte black dial with an elm burl wood decoration.

Altiplano 900P by Piaget
The prestigious Swiss watchmaker is celebrating its 140th anniversary at SIHH 2014 with an exceptional timepiece, which could set a new record as the world's thinnest mechanical watch. By fusing the case with the hand-wound movement, Piaget has succeeded in limiting the thickness of this watch to just 3.65mm. The watchmaker states that it spent three years perfecting this horologic wonder. The Altiplano 900P, which has a power reserve of around 48 hours, comes in a grey gold case worn on a black alligator leather strap.

Grande Lange 1 Moon Phase by A. Lange & Söhne
The theme of this year's SIHH is astronomy, and the German watch maker is presenting a watch to suit the occasion. This Moon Phase version of the Grande Lange 1 shows the phases of the moon with remarkable precision through a large disk with a solid gold moon. This specific complication is added to the watch's hand-wound Lange L095.3 movement. The case is available in yellow gold, rose gold or platinum, and the dial is available in sterling silver with an argenté or rhodium finish. The hand-sewn alligator strap is available in three colors: medium brown, red brown and black.

In addition to its highly original case, the RM 011 Carbon NTPT includes a self-winding RMAC1 movement with a large date indicator at 12 o'clock, a nearly instantaneous month indicator at 4 o'clock, a flyback chronograph and a 60-minute countdown timer.
