Retired undefeated American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. is in the Philippines for a business trip and was treated to local street food and streetball when he visited a neighborhood in Sampaloc, Manila.

Mayweather arrived in the Philippines on Tuesday (October 4) from Japan after his exhibition match with Saitama, where Manny Pacquiao was also present.

He also dismissed chatters that he went to the Philippines to talk about a rematch with Pacquiao, as he said that he had already retired and was out to enjoy his life.

“I’m here to have fun and enjoy myself … but I’m not going to take punishment to the point to where I can barely walk and barely talk,” Mayweather said on Sunday (October 2) in an interview.

“People will always pay to get a glimpse of Floyd Mayweather … So why would I go out there and … fight a top fighter when I can get the same amount of money for three rounds with whoever?” he added.

Mayweather was also seen lurking in the streets of Manila with executives of Frontrow, in a Facebook video posted by Tutok to Win Partylist Rep. Sam Versoza.

“Ladies and gentlemen, Money May is here in the hardcore streets of the Philippines with my man Sam,” Mayweather said in the video alongside Versoza.

“See how [we’re] doing this. Top fried meal in a pan. Don’t worry, Filipino people showed me love. And thanks for having me, Sam,” Mayweather added.

Versoza said that he came from the place, and as a way of looking back, he brought Mayweather into the place.

“Never ever forget where you came from, [I’m] always proud to come from thie neighborhood kaya dinala namin si [Mayweather] sa street namin sa Sampaloc, Manila (that’s why we brought Mayweather in our street in Sampaloc, Manila),” he said.

Sabi niya ‘This is his best experience in the Philippines and in ASIA so far’,” Versoza added.

(We ate dinner on the street … We ate different Pinoy street foods and grilled chicken, hotdog, seafood, and unripe mango and dirty ice cream were our desserts. We bonded, did shooting at a basketball court in front of the house where I was born. He said this was his best experience in the Philippines and in Asia so far.)

Mayweather was in the Philippines to attend the opening of a Frontrow office in Quezon City.
