Footage Shows Taliban Inside Afghan Presidential Palace
Taliban fighters took control of the presidential palace in Kabul on Sunday, August 15, as the Afghan capital fell amid a rapid advance by the Islamic militant group.
Footage obtained exclusively by Al Jazeera shows Taliban leaders and a man identified by The New York Times as Muhammadullah Amin, head of the Afghan Presidential Protection Service, addressing the media from the presidential office on Sunday.
Members of the Taliban had entered the palace after President Ashraf Ghani fled the country.
