CLOSE to 2,000 health care workers received the P10,000 cash incentive, which was promised to them by the Cebu City government, on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2020.

Mayor Edgardo Labella personally turned over the cash assistance to the health care workers during a ceremonial distribution at the Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital and Chong Hua Hospital.

The P10,000 that the health care workers received is the promised assistance to them in August.

Another set of cash incentives for the months of September and October will be distributed next week.

Labella told reporters: “We have begun to distribute the first P10,000 of the P30,000 financial token for the months of August, September and October to 1,800 private healthcare workers for their service to Covid-19 patients and for helping us flatten the curve in Cebu City. The City Treasurer’s Office is disbursing this in nine private hospitals, starting with Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital and Chong Hua Hospital today.”

Labella personally thanked the city’s health care workers for their sacrifice and their dedication to ensure that the city’s Covid-19 curve flattens.

He said: “I express my sincerest gratitude to all of the frontliners for their unselfish dedication. I also would like to recognize the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. for helping the Cebu City Government come up with the list of qualified recipients.”

He also thanked Cebu City Councilor Raymond Alvin Garcia, who chairs the committee on budget and finance, for helping them get approval for the cash assistance from the City Council. (PAC / JKV)
