While stories like this may suggest otherwise, Genshin Impact isn't all about 5-star characters that you have to empty your primogem hoard just to get.

And despite the fact that 4-star characters can be easier to acquire (at least, if you're not going for full constellation), that doesn't mean they're any less fun to play than the 5-stars.

Even if 5-star characters are generally stronger than their 4-star counterparts, some of the best characters in the game are actually 4-stars.

With that said, we at Yahoo Gaming SEA thought it'd be good to go through all of the 4-star characters in Genshin Impact to break down how good they are and whether or not they're worth building and having in your teams.

You can check out verdicts on the 4-star characters from Mondstadt here.

This time, lets' take a look at the 4-star characters from Liyue, the Nation of Contracts.

Beidou

The Parry Queen. The Uncrowned Lord of the Ocean.

Beidou is an underrated sub-DPS that can pack a serious punch. Her parries, when timed right, can easily shred through enemies while her burst gives constant Electro application that’s perfect for 'Taser' teams.

Pair Beidou with a Hydro character and you'll be Electro-Charging your enemies to a crisp.

Verdict: Taser teams are so underrated. If you’re looking to deal consistent damage against mobs of enemies, Beidou is the perfect driver just waiting to be let on the team.

Chongyun

If you’re looking to utilize another Cryo DPS, Chongyun is a great option.

His elemental skill infuses your attacks with Cryo, so he can consistently apply Cryo without taking up field time.

Put Chongyun with the 'National' team (Bennett, Xingqiu, Xiangling) and he can be an amazing Melt DPS.

His skill also shortens your team’s skill cooldowns, so you’re always ready to drop everything and hit your enemies where it hurts.

Verdict: Don’t overlook Chongyun’s potential. He’s fairly easy to build and his damage is far from mediocre, especially in Mono Cryo or Melt teams.

Ningguang

The Tianquan of the Liyue Qixing is both beautiful and deadly.

When built as a DPS, Ningguang's gems are like mini honing bombs that can stagger enemies and easily defeat them with pure Geo damage.

For support, Ningguang's Jade Screen is great at deflecting long-range attacks from enemies.

Passing through it also gives you a Geo damage bonus, which is useful for other Geo characters you want to utilize in your team, like Zhongli, Noelle, or even Arataki Itto.

Verdict: Although she's locked behind a mono-Geo composition and mainly used as a DPS, Ningguang is a hidden 5-star among her fellow 4-star peers. If you want to be a Geo main, building her is definitely a must!

Xiangling

The world-renowned chef of Wanmin restaurant Xiangling (and Guoba, a literal god) is a flexible character that can deal amazing Pyro damage.

Xiangling is great for off-field Pyro application thanks to Guoba and her Pyronado, which can easily decimate mobs and bosses if you take advantage of Vaporize or Melt reactions.

Her passive also gives you an attack increase for 10 seconds, which is very useful.

Verdict: For Pyro teams, Xiangling is the way to go, especially at full constellations. Her Pyro res decrease at C1 and Pyro dmg bonus at C6 is great for your Pyro DPS characters, or if you choose to make Xiangling your DPS instead.

Xingqiu

There’s no arguing here, we can all agree that Xingqiu is one of the best support and sub-DPS characters that Genshin Impact has released so far.

The Rain Swords from his Elemental Skill and Burst are multi-use, dealing off-field Hydro damage while acting as a semi-shield and emergency heal mechanic.

Pair him with a Pyro or Electro character and you’re set to clear both mobs and bosses in seconds.

Verdict: Xingqiu is essential to teams that revolve around Hydro-based elemental reactions like Vaporize and Electro-Charged because his off-field Hydro application is the most ideal for its consistency. It’s safe to assume that veteran players already have a fully-built Xingqiu in their arsenal, so why not you too?

Xinyan

Xinyan is also another underrated Genshin Impact character.

She’s pretty great as a physical damage dealer, but her Pyro application isn’t as constant as you would want it to be.

She does makes her own shield, which is an added plus.

Verdict: At higher constellations, Xinyan can be good to play as her physical damage bonuses and self crit-rate increase will be unlocked. However, don’t be deterred if she’s at c0, she’s still pretty fun to play and incorporate into your team.

Yanfei

A Pyro catalyst main DPS, Yanfei is someone you definitely want to build.

Her kit may make her a selfish DPS, but it’s all worth it when her charged attacks can easily incinerate enemies.

Just make sure to put her in a team that consists of off-field supports to maximize her damage potential.

Verdict: Next to Hu Tao, Yanfei is the best Pyro DPS out there in terms of consistent Pyro damage. She can also be self-reliant at higher constellations, as she can create her own shield with her burst at c4. But, as with any catalyst wielder, you need to carefully manage your charge attacks and stamina to maintain an optimal damage output.

Yun Jin

The latest 4-star character from Liyue, Yun Jin is a Geo polearm-wielder that can flex between support and DPS roles.

Her kit is unique, as she focuses on buffing normal attacks with her Elemental Burst and her parry-based Elemental Skill can tank through heavy attacks and strike back even harder.

Verdict: Although a niche character, Yun Jin is a valuable asset to a team that has a DPS that solely focuses on their normal attacks, like Yoimiya or Kamisato Ayato. If you don’t have these characters, you can just either have Yun Jin be your DPS instead.

So that rounds up the 4-star Liyue gang up to version 2.6!
