STANLEY Pringle came up big in crunchtime, sinking two tough baskets to lift the Barangay Ginebra Kings to an 81-73 victory over Rain or Shine in the quarterfinals of the PBA Philippine Cup on Friday, November 13, at the Angeles University Foundation Sports Arena in Pampanga.

The victory pushed the top-seeded Kings to the semifinals, where they will face off against the winner of the quarterfinal showdown between San Miguel and Meralco. The semifinals will start on Wednesday, November 18.

Rain or Shine was within one after a short jumper by James Yap but Ginebra’s prolific guard Stanley Pringle, who had been struggling all game long, chose the perfect time to hit his stride as he sank a tough fallaway jumper to give the Kings a 74-71 lead.

After a missed three by Rey Nambatac, on the other end, Pringle came right back and made a layup before Aljon Mariano converted a floater to give Ginebra a 78-71 advantage, time down to 1:32. Moments later, LA Tenorio swished a three-pointer, capping off a 9-0 run to put Ginebra up 10, 81-71, with just 55 seconds remaining in the game.

Japeth Aguilar led Ginebra with a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Mariano and Prince Caperal chipped in 11 markers each. Pringle ended up with 10 points.
