The TNT Tropang Giga and the Barangay Ginebra Kings will duke it out for the solo lead in the standings in the PBA Philippine Cup on Friday at the AUF Sports Arena in Pampanga.
The game will tip off at 6:45 p.m. as the league stages another quadruple-header starting off with the game between struggling squads Blackwater and TerraFirma at 10 a.m. A duel between Alaska and NorthPort follows suit at 1 p.m. and then, NLEX and San Miguel will clash at 4 p.m.
TNT is looking to get back its edge after losing two of their last three games after starting the tournament off with five straight wins. They are coming off a 92-102 loss to Magnolia on Wednesday. Their recent slide has them tied with Ginebra for the lead in the standings at 6-2 (win-loss).
On the other side, Ginebra head coach is looking for a win against TNT that would give them a foothold of one of the top four spots, which will give them a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.
“Right now we're just really looking at the top six and our head to head," Cone was quoted as saying on the league’s website. "If we can beat them then that gives us a good chance for the top four."
Ginebra has some momentum on their side after winning over NorthPort on Wednesday, 112-100.
Cone added that their game against the Tropang Giga will be an interesting one.
"It's going to be a real contrast in styles when we play them," shared Cone. "One is not necessarily better than the other. It's really going to come down to who will execute." (JNP)
