A 10-YEAR-OLD girl who had been missing for three days was found dead near a dumpsite in Sitio Napo, Barangay Tapul, Talisay City, Cebu on Sunday morning, Jan. 9, 2022.

The fatality was identified as Kiara Mae Namanama, a resident of Sitio Avocado, Barangay Maghaway.

Police are looking into a possibility that she was raped.

Talisay City Police Chief Lt. Col. Randy Caballes said they are looking into four men who may have involvement in the girl’s death.

A resident saw these men passing by the area at the same time the girl walked by in Sitio Napo.

Relatives searching for the girl on Sunday found her in a cave near the dumpsite. Swarms of flies caught the attention of the girl’s relatives and led them to the cave.

Personnel from the police, Bureau of Fire Protection and Talisay City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office retrieved the girl’s body.

Before the girl went missing on Jan. 6, she accompanied her mother Cerila, 47, and 12-year-old brother to the river in Sitio Napo where Cerila did her laundry.

When her brother went upstream to swim, the girl asked her mother to allow her to tag along with her brother. Cerila gave her permission, as her daughter was with her older brother.

The girl later told her brother that she would head home first. She brought a coconut with her. But she did not arrive at their house in time for lunch.

This launched a three-day search that ended with a tragic sight of Cerila’s dead daughter on Sunday morning.
