Globe and Smart have restored signal and connectivity in these Odette-affected areas

A week after typhoon Odette first made landfall in Siargao and ravaged through various parts of Visayas and Mindanao, several Odette-stricken areas have signal and connectivity due to damaged cell sites—with victims of the typhoon unable to locate and connect with their loved ones.

Telecom giants Globe and Smart have each pledged to repair affected network sites and immediately set up emergency network services to quickly bring back call, text, and data browsing services. On Tuesday, Globe announced that it had restored connectivity to Del Carmen in Siargao island, while Smart brought back signal for Surigao City. More cities and municipalities around the Vis-Min region have since regained connectivity.
