The much-awaited team-up of the Gomez de Liaño brothers is finally happening after Juan, Javi and Joe committed to play for the Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards in the 2020 Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 President's Cup presented by TM.
The addition of the Gomez de Liaño siblings is a terrific boost to a Nueva Ecija squad that already has former PBA D-League and Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Most Valuable Player award-winner Gab Banal and former pro Jai Reyes.
The Gomez de Liaño brothers are all considered as guest players in this professional tournament as they are all still playing for the University of the Philippines in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). Juan and Javi though, have already announced that they are skipping the next UAAP season.
Nueva Ecija is one of 12 teams that are competing in the country’s first-ever professional 3x3 league.
The other competing teams include Uling Roasters-Butuan City, Bacolod-Masters Sardines, Palayan City Capitals, Zamboanga Peninsula Valientes MLV, Porac Big Boss Cement Green Gorillas, Bicol 3x3 Pro, Pasig Sta. Lucia Realtors, Saranggani Marlins, Pagadian City Rocky Sports Valientes, and Petra Cement.
The first leg of the tournament is slated to commence later this month. (JNP)
