Users of Google Glass, the Internet giant's wearable computing platform, may soon be able to publish with just a voice command - thanks to a new plugin that links it to the WordPress publishing platform.
But the plugin is not an official one from WordPress and was published by a public relations agency, tech site Mashable reported late Monday (Manila time).
Still, the tech site said the "wpForGlass" plugin from PR agency Weber Shandwickcould prove beneficial to journalists who are live-blogging events.
"Instead of pulling out a phone or camera to take a picture that needs to be posted online right away, this is so much easier," Ozzy Farman, Weber Shandwick's SVP of technology innovation, told Mashable (http://mashable.com/2013/12/09/google-glass-WordPress/).
For now, Mashable said the plugin is optimized for reporters covering an event "where they could quickly post new product pictures or a video to a live blog or webpage."
It quoted the company as saying the plugin can place posts online in less than a minute.
* no dictation yet
While Mashable said the plugin uses WordPress' open source code to integrate with the platform, it cannot support dictation yet, at least for now.
"It doesn't support voice commands yet, but it's in the pipeline. That is something we hope to have up and running by the time Google Glass officially launches," Farman said. — TJD, GMA News
