THE Dumanjug Municipal Government has secured the Cebu Provincial Government’s commitment to fund the new government center, which will be built in honor of the late former Cebu governor Pablo “Pabling” Garcia.

Dumanjug Mayor Efren "Gungun" Gica told reporters Tuesday, July 12, 2022, that the government center will serve as a one-stop-shop for all government transactions.

He said he raised the proposal to Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia during their meeting Monday, July 11, 2022, and the latter has vowed to fund the project.

(The Dumanjug Municipal Government planned the construction of the building, but Governor Gwen Garcia will fund it.)

He said the government center will be named Pablo Paras Garcia Building, in honor of the former governor who died at the age of 95 on August 18, 2021.

“This is in honor of our late congressman and former governor Pabling,” said Gica.

Pabling is the father of the incumbent governor.

Gica added that they had been planning on building the government center since 2017, but the budget for it was realigned due to several calamities that hit Cebu.

Di kaya sa lungsod,” Gica said.

The government center will be built in Barangay Poblacion in Dumanjug, near the Dumanjug Police Station.

It will have three stories, with an area of about 1,800 square meters per story.

He said they are still looking at how much the project will cost.

Ang among gi present (kang Governor Garcia), was only a perspective and floor plan,” he added. (ANV/LMY)
