Government driver who hit 2 motorcycles apprehended for driving under the influence of liquor, driving without license

A driver of a government vehicle was apprehended by the City of Talisay Traffic Operations and Development Authority (CT-TODA) after he sped off after hitting two motorcycles along South Road Properties in Talisay City on Sunday, December 4, 2022.

The driver, who remained unidentified pending an investigation on the incident, was found to be intoxicated and have no driver’s license, prompting the traffic enforcers to slap him with a fine.

Jonathan Tumulak, head of CT-TODA, he immediately contacted the regional director of a government agency about the violations committed by his subordinate.

Tumulak also sent him police report and pictures regarding the incident.

"So akong gibuhat niadto gikontak nako personal ang regional director sa maong national government kon asa kini nag trabaho, unya akong gihatag niya ang police report including ang pictures sa pagkahitabo," Tumulak said.

(So I contacted personally the regional director of the government agency and inquired where the erring employee is assigned and also sent him police report including pictures of the incident).

The Talisay traffic czar said he already entrusted the matter to the regional director after the latter promised to take proper action on their complaint.

Tumulak said the erring driver escaped from paying more fines as the drivers of the two motorcycles, who only sustained minor injuries and were both under the influence of liquor, agreed to settle the matter with the former.

The CT-TODA head also revealed that the said driver was also apprehended last October 7 for stopping in the middle of the South Coastal Road as he felt asleep due to drunkenness.

The driver allegedly sped off when a traffic enforcer approached him and halted again in another intersection where he continued sleeping, causing traffic in the area.

Also on Sunday, a motorcycle driver and his passenger were brought to the hospital after involving in a road accident. They only sustained minor wounds. (BBT, TPT)
