THE winning slate of Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas Jr. has been formally sworn in as the newly elected officials of the city in an event held on Friday, June 17, 2022, at Talisay City Hall.

After a Holy Mass, reelected councilors Ferdinand Rabaya, Ofelia Ylanan, Rodolfo Cabigas, Manuel Cabriana, Gail Restauro and Lester Daan took their oath before Gullas along with newly elected councilors Rocky Boy Bas, Eduardo “Digul” Gullas lll, Lito Bacaltos and Danilo Caballero.

Eduardo III is the mayor’s younger brother.

Mayor Gullas also swore in Vice Mayor-elect Richard Francis Aznar.

Earlier, the mayor took his oath before Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Geraldine Faith Econg.

During Gullas’ oathtaking, Pedro Sebial, a tricycle driver in Talisay City, was asked by Gullas to hold the Holy Bible.

Sebial was a driver honored by the mayor for his honesty after he handed over a check worth half a million pesos found in his tricycle to the City.

Gullas garnered 93,701 votes against his former ally, outgoing Vice Mayor Alan Bucao.

Bucao and his entire slate who also lost in the recent elections have filed a petition asking the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to declare a failure of elections in the city due to the alleged existence of poll fraud in all clustered precincts.
