TWO men on a motorcycle shot the van carrying Cebuano actress Kim Chiu along Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City early Wednesday, March 4.

Chiu, her personal assistant and driver are safe. Chiu reportedly proceeded to her taping after the shooting incident.

A report from the Anonas Police Station said the shooting happened around 6:15 a.m. in front of the UP Town Center in Katipunan.

Chiu, in an Instagram post, said a bullet hit the windshield where her head would have been had she not lain down to take a nap.

“Buti nakahiga ako. Pano kung tinuloy ko magbasa ng script?... I was so scared, I dont know what to feel right now. Wala naman akong kaaway or ka atraso. Why me?” she said in her post.

Chiu described the incident as a “bad joke.” She recalled hearing eight gunshots.

“I dont have an idea what really happened, mistaken identity? I guess?? Napag tripan?” she said.

Driver Wilfred Taperla said they were waiting for the traffic light to turn green so they could turn left to C.P. Garcia Avenue from Katipunan when two men on board a motorcycle approached the right side of the vehicle and started shooting them.

He said the actress was sleeping but was roused by the shooting. No one was hurt in the incident.

Taperla said the suspects were both wearing black helmets and jackets.

“Hindi ko sila namukhaan pero ‘yung nasa likod na bumabaril malaki ang katawan, malaking tao,” he said.

(I couldn't see their faces but the backrider, who was firing at us, is well-built.)

“Sa tingin ko kami talaga ang target kasi may mga sasakyan sa paligid at kasunod namin pero kami talaga ang puntirya,” he added.

(I think we were really the target because there were other vehicles around us but they were shooting at our van.)

The perpetrators fled towards Old Balara, Quezon City. (SunStar Philippines)
