CEBU Governor Gwendolyn Garcia has urged all companies, especially business process outsourcing (BPO) firms, to provide transportation for employees affected by the curfew.
Since in-person workforce has been reduced by 50 percent, the governor said it will not be difficult for firms to ferry their employees.
She suggested tapping tourist bus operators whose businesses were suspended due to threats of the coronavirus virus (Covid-19).
"I am calling on all companies to provide transportation for your employees, including and especially BPO workers. Those companies who do not follow the cutting down of workforce by 50 percent in the Province of Cebu will be recommended for the revocation of their permit," Garcia said.
But in so far as the independent cities of Cebu and Lapu-Lapu are concerned, Garcia said it will depend on the executive orders issued by their respective mayors.
She also suggested that the 44 towns and component cities under Cebu Province tap displaced habal-habal drivers as home delivery providers for food establishments affected by the temporary ban on dine-in transactions. (RTF)
