CEBU Governor Gwendolyn Garcia summoned for the second time the eight members of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) who claimed to be from the Cebu Provincial Capitol and demanded an explanation for misrepresenting the Province and her at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
They did not show up after Garcia’s first summon. The governor is giving them a second chance to explain directly to her.
Unlike passengers going to the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, and Lapu-Lapu, arriving passengers going to Cebu Province can leave the airport without having their documents checked at designated desks.
However, the Cebu Provincial Government discovered eight EOC members sitting in a booth and checking the documents of passengers going to Cebu Province, such as a Letter of Acceptance and Coordination from the local government unit they are traveling to.
“I would like them to answer why they misrepresented the province and why they misrepresented me,” Garcia said.
In a broadcast report by Sugbo News, Garcia clarified that she did not issue any mandate for such document inspection. She also said that the Cebu City Government has no authority over passengers going to Cebu Province.
The following EOC personnel has been identified and summoned:
• Carl Joseph T. Jerez
• Clint F. Guijarno
• Butch Ian A. Gualiza
• Mafi S. Espinosa
• Jennifer P. Javellana
• Gian Carl A. Reyes
• Maria Ceilo Flores
• Renato Bago Jr.
