Health office vows to fast-track release of workers’ salaries

THE Cebu City Health Department (CHD) assured that the release of salaries and allowances of its employees will be expedited amid the appeal of healthcare workers over their delayed compensation.

CHD head Dr. Jeffrey Ibones told SunStar Cebu Tuesday, September 6, 2022, that the delay in the allowances can be attributed to the lengthy processing procedure from the local going to the national government.

Ibones added that their office is doing a continuous follow-up to the appointment papers of the job order employees so that their salaries for July and August will also be released immediately.

Last Sunday, September 4, a CHD nurse who asked for anonymity told SunStar Cebu that they have not received their One Covid Allowance (OCA) since January and two months' worth of salary.

The nurse said that many of their colleagues have already quit their job because of not being paid.

According to Ibones, the release of the OCA depends on how fast the National Government can process it since the funding is coming from the Department of Health.

“Mo check man ang atoang regional (office), mo check pa gyud ang national (office) una ibalik diri. In case they have changes, ibalik diri usbon na pud nato,” said Ibones. (IRT)
